Weekend Project: Button Initials



Guess where I got this week's weekend project idea from? You got it! Pinterest! This is selling for $60 on Etsy without the frame, but you can make the same thing for a fraction of the cost! Here's what you'll need:

• Frame (you can find good affordable ones at Michaels or even a thrift store!)
• Poster board (Test to see if your fabric is see through at all to help you determine what color to get)
• Fabric of your choice for the backing
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun (or duct tape) :)
• Thread and Needle
• Buttons

Here's what to do:

1. Cut the posterboard to fit the frame.
2. Cut the fabric to size (you'll want to make it a little larger than the posterboard so you can wrap it around the edges)
3. Print out a template of the letter you are going to use. Put masking tape around the edges (but not taping the template to fabric). This will leave you with an outline of the letter.
4. Sew the buttons onto the fabric to fill in the outline.
5. Use a hot glue gun to glue the fabric to the posterboard. Fold an edge of the fabric over the posterboard and glue it to the back. Pull it taut and glue the other edges to the back of the posterboard.
6. Put your handy work in the frame!

I think I will do this for my baby girl's future nursery! I'll post a pic when I'm done!
