Things I Love Thursday: Cloud B Sleep Sheep

Cloud B - Sleep Sheep

There are soooooooooo many sleep machines out there! I was very overwhelmed by the huge selection when I was creating my registry! I'm glad someone got the Cloud B Sleep Sheep for me so I didn't have to make the decision! Here are some reasons I like the Sleep Sheep:
  • gentle appearance
  • 4 different sounds: heartbeat, rain, ocean waves, whale (I think the whale is a little creepy!)
  • adjustable volume
  • you can set it to turn off at either 23 or 24 minutes to save the battery
  • velcro loop to secure it to a crib
  • comes with batteries (a rarity these days!)
It also comes in a small version which would be great for traveling! Just a couple hours ago as my baby girl was falling asleep, she was playing with her Sleep Sheep and she pushed the creepy whale sounds button! It cracked me up!

Here are some prices I found online:
  • Amazon $22
  • BuyBuy Baby $24.99
  • Babies "R" Us $26.09
  • Target $26.99 (only available in store)
  • Cloud B Website $27.95

Raise Money for The Team USA Youth Sports Fund

Head over to Facebook and "Like" Thank You, Mom by P&G, and P&G will donate $1 to The Team USA Youth Sports Fund!

Here's an excerpt from an article on P&G's website about their program to raise funds for The Team USA Youth Sports Fund:

"P&G also announced the launch of the P&G Team USA Youth Sports Fund, with a goal of raising $500,000 through the London 2012 Games. The fund will help moms raise happy, healthy kids by providing broader access to youth sports as part of P&G’s ‘Thank you, Mom’ campaign. This is part of the company’s global effort to raise more than $5 million for youth sports.

“As both a mom and an athlete, I am proud to be affiliated with the P&G ‘Thank you, Mom’ campaign and the Pampers brand to celebrate moms of Team USA athletes and moms across the country,” said Kerri Walsh, beach volleyball gold medalist at the Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Pampers brand athlete. “The support of Team USA and youth sports by P&G and its brands brings this commitment to life in an impactful way.”

The P&G|Team USA Youth Sports Fund will benefit USOC youth sport organizations across the country and donations will be executed through the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to support their programs.
As part of the $500,000 goal, funds will come from consumer engagement, donations and brand programs from the company’s leadership brands, including Pampers®, Tide®, Gillette® and Pantene®, among others. Additional support will be derived from corporate marketing programs. The fund will be supported through integration across marketing channels including advertising, public relations, in-store merchandising, mobile, digital and direct mail.

Behind every amazing athlete is an even more amazing mom,” said Jodi Allen, Vice President of North American Operations and Marketing at P&G and proud mom of four. “P&G is in the business of helping moms do whatever it takes to make her child’s life the best it can be. In support of our ‘Thank You, Mom’ campaign, together with Team USA, we are making a commitment to those people who matter most to moms – their kids – through the creation of the P&G|Team USA Youth Sports Fund.”

P&G, its brands, and U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes are encouraging consumers to help the cause by going to the company’s ‘Thank you, Mom’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thankyoumom to share their stories and show their support. Starting today, for every new “like” on the P&G ‘Thank you, Mom’ Facebook page, the company will donate one dollar to the P&G|Team USA Youth Sports Fund, up to $100,000."

Tatiana's Maternity is on Zulily and they have a pretty big selection of cute and affordable maternity clothing! They have a few bottoms for just $12.99 and both of the tops above are only $14.99! It doesn't make sense to spend a lot on clothing you will only wear for 9 months so this deal makes perfect sense! :)

This sale is good until Sunday morning at 6am!

Infant, Toddler and Kids' Sunglasses $9.99

My mom always made sure I was wearing sunscreen when I was growing up. I'm definitely an advocate for sun safety! It's also very important to protect your eyes from the sun!

Zulily has UVA/UVB protection sunglasses for infants, toddlers and kids from My First Shades on sale for $9.99 (50% off)! At first I thought these looked pretty silly, but they seem really practical. My only concern is that a baby might find them uncomfortable and frustrate them. Maybe not though. There are also styles for kids without the straps for $11.99.

There are tons of different options to choose from! I'm definitely going to think about trying a pair for my baby girl. They would come in very handy for our possible beach trip this May!

This sale is good through Sunday morning at 6am!

Couponing for My Baby!

One of my favorite blogs I use to help me coupon is I Heart Publix! I recently wrote them and was selected for a Reader's Spotlight! I'm super excited to share with others how couponing has enabled me to stay at home with my baby girl! I could not think of a more wonderful blessing! Here's my story in a nutshell:

Even before I was married, I knew that I wanted to stay at home with my future children at least until they were in school. During college I had a classmate, who was also a mother to two children, who told me about her impressive couponing adventures. It was something I wanted to get into, but was too busy at the time. When I graduated, I was four months pregnant and, with my little bit of extra time, I dove into couponing.
My goal was to save enough money each month to enable me to stay at home with my baby while my husband worked to provide for our family. I was hooked after the first time I used a $1 coupon on a box of BOGO cereal! Within the first month, I shaved over $100 off our grocery bill. I was also delighted that we were still able to eat a wide variety of whole grains, lean meat, and fresh produce. I also learned how to save on other items such as clothing, vitamins and home decor.
Being frugal minded as I am, I had done some research and discovered that on average, baby’s first year would cost over $5,000! There was no way I was going to let that happen. I began looking for good deals on essentials such as diapers and wipes. I shopped sales and used store and manufacturer coupons to save some big bucks. I got a lot of diapers using the reward systems at drug stores too. I was able to build up a decent stockpile of diapers through size 4 which will probably last until my baby is a year old. I also discovered consignment sales which have saved me tons on clothing, toys, and other baby gear.
‘My baby is now almost 7 months old and we have spent under $1,000! I even started my own blog with deals and ideas for raising baby on a budget called Budget for Baby. We have been able to provide my baby with everything she needs and she is extremely happy. Best of all, I’m able to stay home with her. Couponing has allowed me to spend every day with her and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!
Has couponing helped you to achieve a goal?
