If you were to get every deal that I post on this site, you would go broke! But, how can getting good deals cost you more money than paying full price for your baby gear? They key is to knowing what's really a good deal for you. Here are some of the tips I use for staying on budget:
Set A Budget - Jot down the monthly expenses for your little one (this is not including all the major items such as furniture, car seats, strollers, etc.). This will depend on how old your child is. For an infant all you truly need are diapers, wipes, clothing and possibly diaper cream and bottles. If you're not nursing, you will also need formula and additional bottles. Of course, if you are paying for daycare then you will need to figure that into your budget. My monthly budget is $100. We stay well under this, but I want a little overage to save up for big purchases like when we'll need to get a larger car seat and re-decorate the nursery.
A Good Deal Is Only A Good Deal If You Need It - I find a lot of good deals every day! However, I don't need 98% of these deals. The best example is with clothing. You can find a lot of super cute and cheap clothing at Totsy and Zulily just about every day. However, my baby girl has plenty of clothes, so I have to resist the urge to buy clothing even when it's a really good deal.
